Styrolight® construction technology

Styrolight® s a styrene-based plastics material with acrylic surface layer.

Styrene based plastics have great toughness and high impact strength (even at low temperatures), good mechanical properties and excellent dimensional stability.

Styrolight® is thermoplastics material and for canoes and kayaks production is processed by vacuum forming in to the mould by high temperatures (140–160 °C).

Top surface on all Styrolight® products is made from thin Acrylic layer for better scratch resistance and shiny look during the long period of time. This layer also contains UV stabilizers which guarantee colour and material stable and quality.

Thermoplastics can go through melting/freezing cycles repeatedly and the fact that they can be reshaped upon reheating gives them their name. This quality makes thermoplastics recyclable. All our boats and accessories madefrom Styrolight® are 100% recyclable and environmentally friendly.

Styrene-based thermoplastic have been commercially available for a number of years. However, the price of these materials was too high for them to find more than a few specialized outlets. Mass production during last ten years made this amazing materials available for wide use.

VAJDA canoes&kayaks as a first company on the market brings the thermoplastics materials into racing canoeing.

Styrolight® boats have high resistance and toughness. One of the biggest advantage is low weight comparing to PE (polyethylene) plastics boats.Weight of Styrolight® boats is similar to Fiberglass-Epoxy constructions with incomparable better shock resistance. Specific weight is 1,1 g/cm3.

Mentioned material properties in the combination with favourable price predestinating Styrolight® boats for kids, beginners and developing paddlers. Using for training purposes is also advantage on the unknown rivers and courses.Colour range is very wide and also metallic colors are available for all offered boat models.

Available boat models

Styrolight® production is in the developing process and many new models will be available in the short time. Any existing Vajda canoes&kayaks boat model can be produced from Styrolight®, approximately time necessary for product preparation is about 10 days.
